At British International School, we offer a world-class education built on the British curriculum. We shape it to fit our diverse international community.
We help every student grow in three key areas: Academics, Creativity, and Character.
Our classrooms are modern. Our teachers are highly qualified. Our focus is on the wider world.
From early years to pre-university, we help students love learning, and prepare them for whatever comes next.
We believe that real education happens when children feel safe, curious, and inspired. That’s why we keep our classes small and our doors open — to parents, to ideas, and to the world around us.
Whether your child is just starting their journey or preparing for university, we walk alongside them every step of the way.
Ten years ago, Łódź looked very different. As Poland’s most central city, it began attracting foreign money. The main goal was to grow modern industries. For example, business services (BPO and IT), biotech, and product manufacturing. In addition, several local manufacturers opened back offices and R&D centres here.
Many global companies arrived, and so did their staff from abroad. As a result, people fell in love with Łódź and its rich culture. However, they hit one big problem: no school in the region offered an international education for their children.
Where some saw a problem, others saw a chance. As Łódź grew as a business hub, two local businessmen — Mr. Amit Lath and Mr. Pradyot Sinha — wanted expat children to have a British-style education. So they brought the idea to Łódź’s Mayor, Mrs. Hanna Zdanowska.
Then the Mayor invited the University of Łódź into the talks, represented by Chancellor Mr. Rafał Majda. Within just two weeks, The British International School of the University of Łódź — known as BISUL — was born.
Word spread quickly, and so did the student body:
Eventually, the school moved from the university campus on Matejki. Now our new home is at Fabryczna 4.
Thanks to being part of the University of Łódź, BISUL has grown by over 1,000%. Students have access to the university’s grounds, labs, gym, and expert academic staff. In short, this partnership has been key to our growth.
Many people and institutions helped shape BISUL along the way. First, our thanks go to the University of Łódź, the Special Economic Zone, and the Mayor’s Office. Also to Hanna Zdanowska, Rafał Majda, Tomasz Sadzyński, Adam Trim, Magda Matz, and many more.
Today, parents and students value what we’ve built, and some have been with us from day one.
The British International School of the University of Łódź (BISUL) offers quality education in a warm, caring, and inspiring setting.
We are a community that cares equally about three things: how students learn, how they grow as people, and how they connect with the wider world. Our goal is to raise curious, thoughtful global citizens who help build a kinder world.
Our work falls into three areas:
When all of this comes together, our students learn happily and behave with kindness. They make real progress and reach their potential. In exams they succeed, and they feel ready for further study. Most importantly, they appreciate other cultures, find careers that fit who they are, and face a fast-changing world with confidence.
This is more than a school philosophy — it’s a promise we make to every family who joins us. That from the first day to the last, your child will be supported, challenged, and prepared for whatever future they choose.

Their rules are set out in the Articles of Association and the provisions of the Relevant Regulations.
The British International School of the University of Łódź Ltd is owned by the Foundation of the University of Łódź. The University of Łódź, in turn, founded that Foundation.
The University of Łódź is devoted to research and education that transforms communities. It runs major scientific projects with national and international grant providers across exact sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities. Its goal is to shape active global citizens who think critically and understand today’s complex world. The University also carries out research for companies and brings business insight into its teaching. It is one of the largest employers in the region.
The University was among the first in Poland to sign the Declaration of Social Responsibility. It was also the first public university in Poland to sign the Diversity Charter. Through projects such as University Diversity, it builds an academic community grounded in respect for cultural, religious, and personal differences, as well as social awareness.

BISUL is an approved Cambridge International School, accredited by Cambridge International Examinations — the world’s largest provider of international education for students aged 5 to 19.
We follow the Cambridge International programmes, which are widely respected as strong preparation for university, work, and life. They also give a clear international benchmark for student progress.
Through Cambridge, our students can earn qualifications such as the Cambridge International IGCSE and Cambridge International A-Levels. Both are welcomed by universities and employers around the world.
Being part of the Cambridge community also means our teachers have access to ongoing professional development, world-class resources, and a global network of educators who share best practices.
BISUL is a proud member of COBIS — a global network of British international schools.
COBIS connects more than 500 member schools and corporate supporting members worldwide. It is an active, forward-looking community committed to quality British education abroad.
For our students, this means access to international competitions, student leadership conferences, sports tournaments, and creative events held across COBIS schools. For our staff, it means continuous training and shared expertise from some of the finest British schools around the world.
BISUL is an authorised IB World School.
The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year course for students aged 16 to 19. It leads to an internationally recognised qualification accepted by leading universities around the world.
The IB is more than an exam — it’s an approach to learning. It encourages students to think critically, ask big questions, and connect what they study to the wider world. Our IB graduates leave BISUL not only with strong academic results, but also with the independence and confidence they need to succeed at university and beyond.
Our IB identification number is 061579.
The Ministry of National Education (MEN) is the Polish government department that sets national education standards and oversees youth activities.
Our MEN accreditation means BISUL follows the rules and guidelines of the Polish Ministry. All our students take Polish classes and receive a Polish school certificate alongside their British one. As a result, Polish nationals can study at BISUL with full recognition of their education at home.
This dual recognition is something we’re especially proud of: our students graduate fully prepared to continue their education anywhere in the world — whether at a university in Warsaw, London, New York, or beyond.
